Social Service Providers Aotearoa
SSPA is a voice and support for non-profit organisations that turn lives around in their work with vulnerable children, young people and families/whanau.
Mandatory registration needs government support
Mandatory registration for social workers, announced by Minister Anne Tolley, is supported by SSPA but there are practical matters that need to be addressed to make it viable for the not-for-profit sector.
Brenda Pilott, the chair of ComVoices and SSPA national manager, congratulates the government on its decision to call a halt to the collection of individual client data until the concerns of not-for-profit service providers have been worked through.
ComVoices says that an enquiry into the privacy failure of MSD’s online reporting platform for community organisations required to provide individual client data (ICLD) addresses only one of the Privacy Commissioner’s four recommendations.
