Te Pai Ora SSPA submission

The Future of Public Service Integrity

Te Pai Ora SSPA made a submission to Te Kawa Mataaho, the Public Service Commission on its draft long-term insights briefing, The Future of Public Service Integrity. While Te Pai Ora SSPA welcomes the renewed focus on integrity, the submission identifies areas where this could be developed further.

In particular, it asks for an increased emphasis on how integrity can be influenced from within organisations through factors such as:

  • commitment to a partnership with Māori and a full understanding of the link between te Tiriti o Waitangi and public service integrity
  • greater understanding of how cuts to public service budgets can put a strain on integrity
  • a workforce reflects the public it serves, including ethnic and regional diversity
