Matt Reid

Matt assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Barnardos in July 2023, following his tenure on the organisation's Board from 2012 to 2022. With a rich history of leadership spanning 25 years, he has held prominent positions at Te Āhuru Mōwai (Ngati Toa), Ara Poutama Department of Corrections, Hutt City Council, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, and in the racing industry. Additionally, he has served as an Assistant Auditor-General. Matt's unwavering passion lies in ensuring that every child, irrespective of their community, is afforded equal opportunities to explore and nurture their unique talents. Beyond his commitment to Barnardos, Matt also contributes his expertise as a member of the Board of Trust House Limited and as the Chair of the Board of Te Awa Kairangi Access Trust. Known for his mantra, "mahia atu" (just make it happen), Matt embodies a proactive and results-driven approach to his mahi.
